Stylist Liz Uy speaks up on issue over Maine Mendoza's 'Tamang Panahon' gown
MANILA, Philippines — Celebrity stylist Liz Uy weighed in on the controversial gown Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza wore during the "Sa Tamang Panahon" event of noontime show "Eat Bulaga" on Saturday.
Liz's Stylized Studio was hired to be the stylist of "Sa Tamang Panahon" and chose a Francis Libiran dress for Maine to wear during the show's main event: the on-stage meeting of her character Yaya Dub and Alden Richards.
But netizens questioned the decision to make Maine wear a "recycled" dress that was previously worn by Kim Chiu in a fashion show in 2013.

In a statement sent to fashion news site Style Bible, Liz explained why she chose the controversial gown.
“Maine’s gown was chosen among several gowns because its style best fitted the show’s Cinderella theme. The gown, which was first showcased at Francis Libiran’s fashion show as part of his Bangalore collection, was purchased by Tape, Inc. for the event.”
Maine is yet to address the issue directly, although "Eat Bulaga" mainstay Allan K took to social media to comment on the controversy.
"Wag na lagyan ng issue 'yung gown. Ang importante, nang sinuot ni Meng 'yun, history ang turn out. Argument anyone?" he said.
The comedian also said: "Para matigil na lahat-ipasuot nyo 'yung gown kahit kaninong Pinay, punuin n'ya ang Philippine Arena tapos i-break n'ya ang 39.5 million tweets. Ok?"
