AlDub fans hit Lea Salonga over 'kababawan' tweet
MANILA, Philippines - It was a case of digital misunderstanding and unfortunate coincidence.
Lea Salonga was slammed by fans of Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza after she posted a tweet that some thought was a criticism against the popular "Eat Bulaga" love team. In a tweet on Saturday, the singer and Broadway star said:
Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo? #NagtatanongLangPo

The tweet attracted the attention of netizens, believing her opinion was about Aldub. Lea's tweet was posted a few hours after "Eat Bulaga's" Kalyeserye segment, which featured the second date of Alden and Yaya Dub.
A number of celebrities even took to social media to express their opinion about Lea's post, including TV director Rico Gutierrez and Joey Reyes.
Even "Eat Bulaga" co-host Joey de Loen posted a tweet that referenced "kababawan," although he didn't specify if his post was a reaction to Lea's.
Bigyan ako ng Dalawampu't Limang Milyon, Anim na Raang Libong dahilan bakit may "kababawan" ang Kalyeserye. Baka KABEBEWAN! #ALDUBandPROUD

But in succeeding posts, Lea explained the tweet was not about AlDub. In replies to her followers, the singer-actress even said she's not yet "latched on to" the new TV love team.
For those of you that replied about BALANCE, you rock my world. That's what I was after. We all need fun, but that can't be all there is.

Only now am I finding out that today was a significant day. I honestly had zero idea anything was going on! My tweet was pure coincidence!

So stop the hatred, the negative assumptions, whatever you're throwing at me. Just send me links so I know what the fuss is about.
