Acel tonight at Teatrino

MANILA, Philippines - Singer-songwriter and OPM hit-maker Acel van Ommen (photo) celebrates her 20th anniversary in the industry via a special fundraising concert titled Who Would Have Thought, Acel At 20 at Teatrino tonight at 8.

Acel gained mainstream prominence in the early 2000s with such anthemic hit songs as Torete, One Love, Sulat and Pagibig ‘Kong Ito with her former band Moonstar88. As a solo artist, Acel recorded and performed the English version of One Love, which was the theme song of the popular Korean drama Spring Waltz. Acel went on to record other hit songs as a solo artist which includes Pakiusap and Laugh And Cry, as well as Sa Ngalan Ng Pagibig, the theme of ABS-CBN’s Rounin and Gulo, Hilo, Lito, the theme of another Kapamilya series My Girl.

Who Would Have Thought, Acel At 20 is for the benefit of Start Right Community Development, Inc., which Acel co-founded with Arlene Sy, Anabel Yu and Sale Mallari.

“Right Start is all about inspiring and empowering young people to live better lives. We serve children from four to 14 years old. We want them to understand and enjoy the rights of a child. In our center, they are empowered to be creative and productive,” says Acel.

Joining Acel as her special guests are Barbie Almalbis, Kitchie Nadal, Quest and Yeng Constantino. Who Would Have Thought, Acel At 20 is directed by Jeffrey Hidalgo under the musical direction of John Apura. Fans of Acel can look forward to an evening of beautiful music as Acel performs live her greatest hits as well as her newly-penned single Panyo.
