PhilPOP to award Best Music Video
MANILA, Philippines - As music videos of its finalists have become an integral part of the Philippine Popular Music Festival, the PhilPOP Foundation together with its partner Viva Entertainment saw it fitting to include a Best Music Video Award for the first time in the four-year history of the country’s premier songwriting competition.
All official music videos can now be viewed at the VIVAMUSICGROUP1’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/vivamusicgroup1). These are not the same lyric videos of the Top 12 PhilPOP finalists that was earlier uploaded in the same YouTube channel.
A total of P100,000 are up for grabs for the winners in the particular category which does not in any way affect the final outcome of the songwriting competition. The winners of the Best Music Video Award will be determined by the overall appeal of the video and not based on text votes which started last July 13 and will end on July 25 at 12 noon for the separate People’s Choice Award that will also be handed out during the grand finals night.
This year’s finalists are Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana (Triangulo to be interpreted with Jeric Medina); Paul Armesin (Tanging Pag-asa Ko interpreted by The CompanY); Gino Gonzalez Cruz and Jeff Arcilla (Apat na Buwang Pasko interpreted by Jon Santos); Ned Esguerra (For The Rest of My Life interpreted by Side A); and Johannes Daniel Garcia (Edge of the World interpreted by Josh Padilla and Yassi Pressman).
