Chris Brown still in the Philippines, faces $1-M estafa case

MANILA, Philippines - Chris Brown is still in the country as he was barred to leave after his concert on Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
This was after Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) legal counsel and Maligaya Development Corp. (MDC) Chief Operating Officer Glicerio Santos IV asked the assistance of Department of Justice (DOJ) to release a lookout bulletin against Brown and his promoter John Michael Pio Roda.
The case stems from Brown's failure to perform at the INC's New Year's party at the Philippine Arena on Dec. 31,2014.
According to reports, MDC has paid Brown and Roda in full, a total of $70,000 for the singer and $ 87,500 for Roda. Since they failed to fulfill their commitment, MDC decided to file the estafa case against them.
Brown can only leave the country after he secures an emigration clearance certificate from DOJ, which will only be given to him after the requirements for lifting the lookout order are completed.
He was supposed to have a show in Hong Kong Wednesday night. He also canceled his show on Saturday in Jakarta due to safety reasons. - Joyce Jimenez
