MANILA, Philippines - Korea was her birthplace. But she found home in the Philippines.
Jinri Park, a Korean native, is now a TV and radio personality in the Philippines. Her family moved to Cebu when she was six years old, living like Filipinos, upholding Filipino values and taking pride in the Filipino culture.
“I am a Filipina. As much as I love Korea, I admit I felt left out when I tried to move back there years ago because I already feel like a Filipino inside,” said the Monster Radio RX 93.1 DJ whose program JINTOMNIA airs every Monday at 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Jinri models and writes for the local men’s magazine FHM. She was just a college student at Enderun Colleges when an FHM photographer invited her to try modeling for the magazine. The photographer was then in a photo shoot with Solenn Heussaff, and Jinri became interested. She said yes and immediately had three FHM photo shoots.
Her big break came in 2012 when Monster Radio hired her to be a DJ. She was also part of Vampire Ang Daddy Ko, a sitcom of GMA 7 with Vic Sotto.
An indie film is lined up for her to star in this year. She will also continue doing what she loves — writing — and even hopes to publish a book about another thing that she loves — traveling. Jinri went to 16 countries last year.
But here in the Philippines, she prefers staying home.
“I really don’t go out. Just home and gym, and the station when I have a program, and I usually have photo shoots,” said Jinri, who hits the gym up to four times a week, doing crossfit training and ultimate fitness.
Jinri stays beautiful by watching what she eats because she believes that “what you eat makes you glow.” She admits to being picky when it comes to food, she even used to be a vegetarian. Her favorite food includes papaya and oatmeal.
Of course, love makes her glow as well. Jinri has been in a relationship with Cholo Barretto for five months already, but they have known each other for several years.
Jinri is also picky with the products she uses. She only uses brands that she trusts. And one brand that she trusts is Calayan.
“Calayan has been in the industry for a long time and I have heard good reviews about them that’s why I really wanted to work with Dr. Calayan. I trust Dr. Calayan,” Jinri said. She undergoes RF treatments and regular facials at the Calayan Medical Group, but she wants to try the 24 Karat Facial, too.
Learning that Dra. Pie Calayan is back in the country for good, Jinri smiled and said, “It’s nice that they are back together in the Philippines. I want to be friends with Dra. Pie as well.”
