Korean Film Festival unreels at SM Cinema

MANILA, Philippines -  Korean director Lim Sang-yoon of the film A Company Man graced the recent Korean Film Festival at SM Cinema. The annual event started its run at SM City Clark, and then went on to SM Lanang Premier and SM City Cebu, with a culminating event at SM Megamall.

A joint partnership between the Korean Embassy’s Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines and SM Cinema, the film festival showcased seven critically-acclaimed films. Other partners include the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the Korea Tourism Organization — Manila (KTO) and the Korea Copyright Commission.  

The popular and award-winning films screened included A Company Man, Hwayi: A Monster Boy, My Paparotti, All About My Wife, Man on the Edge, Hide and Seek, and King of Pigs. A photo exhibit featuring the movie posters of the film screened, as well as tourism in Korea and Korean language were also showcased.

Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Hyuk Lee graced the film festival and led in welcoming the guests along with Korean Cultural Center director and counselor for Culture and Public Relations Indian Ambassador to the Philippines L.D. Ralte, Malaysian Consul General in Davao Abdullah Zawawi Tahir, Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) executive director Ted Granados, Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Cabigting. Local Korean Associations representatives such as Davao Korean Association president Han Sung Wong, Central Luzon Korean Association president Sun Sik Kim and Cebu Korean Association president Bong Huan Cho were also present.

The 2014 Korean Film Festival is one of the many interesting cultural events of SM Cinema.
