MANILA, Philippines – Her reported “vocal malfunction” during the earlier stops of her concert tour made Pinoy audiences worry if the popular 90s diva would be able to turn in a good performance once she lands in the Philippines.
But the fans shouldn't have worried, as Mariah Carey hit all the right notes during the Manila leg of her “The Elusive Chanteuse Show” concert tour at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.
Mariah opened her concert with “Fantasy,” “Touch My Body,” and “Shake It Off,” then segueing to her early 90s hit “Emotions,” which allowed her to showcase her famed whistle register.
“It's so good to be here tonight,” Mariah said, who constantly acknowledged her fans throughout the concert. “I'm giving you a hug right now,” she said. “I just want to thank you guys so much for being so incredible.”
The 18-song concert set consisted of hits such as “Hero” and “Always Be My Baby” and newer songs like “Thirsty” and “Meteorite.”
“Mahal kita, Manila,” Mariah said before singing “Hero.”
