Deezer: App for music savants
MANILA, Philippines - Music apps are such an underexplored portal for all kinds of listening requirements whether for business, pleasure or both. It is to the advantage of Filipino songwriters and musicians that a wealth of inspiration is available with just a few strokes on your smartphones. Here is where Deezer comes in.
Deezer what? Deezer is a music listening and streaming app that originated from France. Like its posh counterparts, Deezer targets the music-savvy public. But there are layers upon layers of music lifestyle that will entertain even non-believers.
Musicians, listening predators and music savants will find Deezer’s intelligent recommendations (Meaning: The app actually suggests, discovers your kind of music palate) amusing as it decodes the kind of tracks your ears favor even when you haven’t heard of the song. It’s as if a friend or a relative recommended a CD or song for you to listen for the first time because they knew you’d like this particular music.
Sensibly futuristic, Deezer serves up song options just by taking note of the kind of music you search. And after you discovered a nice song — a source of inspiration, a track you can tie an emotion or idea to — there are apps within Deezer that provide you not just the lyrics but the chords so it saves you search time on Internet as well.
With the biggest music library of more than 30 million songs available to 180 countries (including the Philippines as made possible by Deezer’s partnership with network giant, Smart Communications, Inc.), it’s going to be hard to put Deezer down for music adventurers.
We tried listening to reliable Beatles songs so the experience led to the discovery of Paul McCartney and George Harrison interviews that will definitely send fanatics of the Fab Four into lengthy Beatles immersion episodes.
Of course, surfing some of my personal favorites like Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black; Queen’s Sail Away Sister; Led Zeppelin’s version of Babe I’m Gonna Leave You; Simon & Garfunkel’s Sound Of Silence; and Pat Benatar’s Love Is A Battlefield reassured me of the kind of playlist I prefer. Call me old school, fine. From time to time I always look back to know how far I’ve moved forward. Call me old soul, better.
Deezer also allows user to have your own radio station with Track.tl, an app within Deezer that lets users request in group. This is perfect for small gatherings because you can sync your own requests into a party. Those in attendance get to input requests and vote which song goes into play mode.
Upon download of the app, it immediately directs user to “Hear This” page. But as you go on navigating your music senses with this app’s man and machine feature, the user realizes that Deezer also listens back.
