Alayan in Lipa: Ryzza leads floral offering to the Blessed Mother

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Child charmer Ryzza Mae Dizon led last May 25 the traditional Alayan in Lipa, Batangas, where young boys and girls offer flowers to the Blessed Mother. The Alayan was held at the Mary Mediatrix of All Grace parish church in the Antipolo del Norte district of Lipa.

Ryzza graced the floral offering event upon the invitation of Danny Dolor, distinguished son of Batangas and Philippine STAR columnist (Remember When?).

Archbishop Ramon Arguelles and Fr. Dong Rosales, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace parish priest, were charmed by the child star. And so were the Lipa residents who attended the late afternoon Alayan and heard Mass at the beautiful parish church.

Every month of May, daily in the afternoon, the children of Lipa and the rest of Batangas offer flowers to the Virgin Mary…nag-aalay ng bulaklak.

From the Soledad Pavilion, four gentlemen carried Ryzza, followed by parishioners and seated on a wooden hamaka (hammock), on her way to the nearby church. But before doing so, Ryzza stopped by the Capilla de San Jose, where she also offered flowers.

Ryzza was dressed in red and yellow gown, by chance complementing the two giant fans (yellow, fuchsia, white) at the back of the hamaka.

Before the short procession to the Capilla and parish church, Danny prepared a sumptuous lunch-cum-merienda, where Batangas specialties were served.

Malou Choa-Fagar, Ryzza’s manager, arranged the child star’s trip to Lipa. She provided the van which brought Ryzza and company to Lipa.

With Ryzza were Malou, the child star’s mother Riza and siblings Nicole and Nathan and handler Papa Jack.

Also with the group were Shirley Kuan and son Niley, Dolor Guevarra and sisters Emma and daughters JP and Anes Plata, Nora Calderon, Ronald Constantino, Nestor Cuartero with wife Cecille and children Isabella and Jao.

The group assembled at the Vera-Perez residence in Quezon City. Sisters Manay Ichu VP Maceda and Betchay VP Nakpil couldn’t join, but they thoughtfully prepared chicken sandwiches for the group.
