MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, ABS-CBN’s Goin’ Bulilit will present a special episode, Noong Unang Panahon, Panahon Pa ng Hapon, on June 8.
The story is set in the year 1945 after the country regained freedom from the hands of the Japanese after the war. Amidst the chaos during the Japanese Occupation, friendship bloomed between the Filipino boy Jaime (Raikko Mateo) and Japanese soldier Hanzo (Jacky Woo, photo). Jaime has been left to take care of his siblings (Belinda Mariano, Miguel de Guzman, Bugoy Cariño, Clarence Delgado, Brenna and Casey) after their parents died from the war.
They are quietly living in their house when, one day, three Japanese soldiers suddenly barge inside and seek temporary refuge. Frightened, Jaime and his siblings run away but the former has to return to get the toy he had left in their house. There, he will find the wounded Hanzo alone and in pain. Jaime introduces himself to Hanzo and offers help. He takes care of Hanzo until he gets better and his wounds are all healed. The two have become friends and their friendship is put to the test when Jaime’s neighbors discovered Hanzo’s whereabouts.
