GMA gears up for new afternoon strip, late-night block
MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network unveils its new afternoon strip and late-night block featuring a line-up of award-winning public affairs programs and documentaries beginning today.
The Kapuso afternoon strip, airing from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., seeks to fill late-afternoon viewing habit with noteworthy insights from broadcast journalists on the latest and trending topics.
Be on the alert Monday afternoons with Alisto, a public service and informative program hosted by Arnold Clavio. Apart from exposing the latest modus operandi in the metro, Alisto also features stories on crime and public safety and shows shocking videos of tragedies, accidents, crimes, felonies and other documented life-threatening hazards.
Taking the Tuesday afternoon is Tunay na Buhay, a bio-documentary program that features inspiring, fascinating true-to-life stories of real people. Hosted by Rhea Santos, Tunay Na Buhay features the life of Alma Moreno tomorrow. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, find out how the actress-turned-politician and her family deal with her disease.
On Wednesday, Powerhouse gives viewers a glimpse into the private lives of iconic figures as host Kara David takes audience on a visit inside their homes. On May 28, catch Jennylyn Mercado as she talks about her experiences in her 10 years in showbiz, her collection of watches and her passion for triathlon and nature.
Airing Thursdays is Reporter’s Notebook bannered by senior reporters Jiggy Manicad and Maki Pulido. On May 29, the investigative program exposes the life-and-death struggles of poor Filipinos awaiting emergency treatment outside public hospitals. Among them was a man with cancer forced to clean his own wounds outside the emergency room.
Meanwhile, locally-produced and award-winning documentary Front Row together, History’s Serial Killer Earth and BBC’s Human Planet take over the late-night block beginning at 11:30 p.m.
Front Row, which still airs Monday nights, presents I am Love Marie, a documentary on Heart Evangelista and her passion for visual arts. Heart is known as a talented actress, but in real life, she is Love Marie Ongpauco, a budding artist who just had her debut painting exhibit at the Ayala Museum.
Premiering tomorrow is Serial Killer Earth, a series which brings together a team of experts to examine the most compelling footage from news and home videos, as well as hear from eyewitness testimonies to explain and inform viewers on what actually happens during natural disasters.
Narrated in Filipino by Kara David, Human Planet, meanwhile, educates viewers on the environment as it takes the Wednesday and Thursday timeslots. BBC’s breathtaking blockbuster natural history series tackles the interesting yet complex relationship between mankind and nature.
