1st Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014 launched

MANILA, Philippines - The Miss Tourism World Philippines Foundation, Inc. is set to hold the first-ever Miss Tourism World Philippines pageant this year.

The Miss Tourism World 2014 aims to set a Guinness record as the first international beauty pageant with the most number of participants.

Candidates will be given a chance to travel and promote their municipalities and cities in the US and other countries through pageant events and shows overseas.

“The intention is really to help Filipino women joining these beauty pageants not only win, but find stable career direction, get employment while in competition. It is a humanitarian concept for a single pageant, but it is what makes this competition (Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014) a winner. It is what differentiates it,” said Francisco “direk Gareth” Blanco Jr., Miss Tourism World Philippines president and national pageant director.

Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014, with the endorsement of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Memo Circular No. 2014-37, is scouting for young women with the drive and interest to help themselves and the areas they represent.

Candidates are expected to compete for any of the 10 coveted crowns and represent the Philippines in international pageants.

“The official candidates are (already) regarded as winners. The moment the candidate enters in a competition, she becomes the goodwill tourism ambassador of her municipality/city,” added direk Gareth.

To boost the candidate’s overall interest in carrying out their ambassador duties, the pageant’s major sponsors provide candidates some “life-changing” business opportunities, which they can extend to their families.

The pageant proper’s TV broadcast is set in July at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
