MANILA, Philippines- The classic and wildly popular '80s film "Annie" is set to hit the big screen and will be given a contemporary adaptation.

The film will be given a modern touch to make it more appealing and interesting for the kids of today.

The film is about the foster child Annie ( Quvenzhane Wallis), who was left by her parents when she was still a baby to her foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). Annie was left with a promise that her parents will come back for her someday.

Annie then meets the New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx), who was advised by his team Grace (Roze Byrne) and Guy (Bobby Cannavale) to take a foster child, who happens to be Annie, and use it for his campaign.

But  this would turn his world upside down as this "all business relationship" with the foster child turns out to be much more than that.

The musical film “Annie” is directed by  Will Gluck, and will be in cinemas in January 2015.
