Alice tells Anne, ‘Have fun with Dyesebel’

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Alice Dixson has some words of advice for Anne Curtis, who will don the iconic mermaid tail of Dyesebel in an upcoming television series.

“I had fun with my Dyesebel. And siguro that’s the only advice I could give her. Just have fun with the role and it will be memorable,” Alice told Philstar.com and other members of the press in an interview at the set of her TV5 comedy series “Confessions of a Torpe” recently.

It can be remembered that the Kapatid actress played Dyesebel in a 1990 movie, co-starring Richard Gomez and directed by  Mel Chionglo

Asked if she thinks Anne, who received flak online for being the oldest to play the iconic mermaid at 29 years old, can do justice to the role, Alice said: “She’s in good company.”

“Kasi ako, I was remembered because of that role. It made me. So, yeah, (she should) just have fun with it and see where it goes,” she added.

Other actresses who portrayed the role of Dyesebel on movie and television include Marian Rivera and Charlene Gonzales.

Alice, who was recently an FHM Philippines cover girl, says she can do another mermaid role in the future but ponders, “Would it have the same viewership?”

The TV5 star further said, “Maybe if I played special participation, okay lang. But for it to revolve around me, nagawa ko na yan, e. It’s nothing new for the viewers. I don’t think there would be much interest.”

“Maybe if you put me as a kontrabida in the show, pwede pa yun. I’d like to do that. That would be fun for me.”

Alice is part of the comedy series “Confessions of a Torpe,” also starring Ogie Alcasid and Gelli de Belen, which will premiere Monday, March 3 on TV5.
