Regine, Universal Records donate P500K to Philippine Red Cross
MANILA, Philippines- Nothing will stop Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez from helping the victims of typhoon Yolanda.
Besides her auction which is still on until November 25, part of the sales of Regine’s latest album “Hulog ng Langit†will go to Red Cross for rebuilding and rehabilitation of the affected areas of the recent typhoon.
In a ceremonial turnover Tuesday afternoon, November 19, Regine together with the album’s distributor Universal Records donated P500,000 to Philippine Red Cross.
These efforts, Regine said, are her way of encouraging people to help our countrymen who are gravely affected by the typhoon.
Meanwhile, Regine’s album is also dedicated to her son Nate, her husband Ogie Alcasid, and her family.
This was initially supposed to be a baby album, yet Regine though that it should be “an album appreciated by everyone—kids, parents, lovers and family.
Aside from this 17-track album, Regine is also preparing for another soap opera with GMA. She will start taping for the show starting March 2014. Regine refused to give details about the show.
Before the interview with her ended, she was asked of her opinion if Filipinos should celebrate Christmas differently after the calamity that hit the country.
Regine says she sympathizes with all the victims of the typhoon, yet she believes that “Christmas should not be postponed.â€
“Christmas is a big deal for all of us,†she says. “Siguro lang na instead of the usual [party], yung ibang company ganun gagawin nila, magda-downscale na sila. Kasi parang sa amin, sa bahay namin, kawawa naman si Nate walang Christmas. Hindi lang naman ito para sa atin, para sa bata rin talaga, e.
“So parang ang lungkot na nga ng dinanas natin, ilulugmok pa natin ang sarili natin. Ito birthday naman ni Jesus Christ, we always celebrate it, we should celebrate it kasi that’s the coming of Christ. So it’s a good day to celebrate especially (during these times).â€
