Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman! preems Nov. 16

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Michael V is set to host Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman!, the local version of the hit US show Killer Karaoke, premiering on Nov. 16 at 8:30 p.m. as part of the Kapatid Network’s Weekend Do it Better campaign.

The franchise of the phenomenal US show guarantees you a weekly dose of laughter as contestants attempt to sing while facing crazy distractions. Imagine singing while getting your body hair waxed, stepping on spiders and maggots, or walking through a cactus maze (with balloons stuck in your body). That’s quite a challenge, but there’s only one rule: “Whatever happens, do not stop singing!”

The final showdown puts the top three contenders on a spinning disc, with the prize money increasing as the turntable speeds up and tilts. The last player standing wins the jackpot.

The game show was a success that the Killer Karaoke craze has reached the UK, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Thailand, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico and now, the Philippines.

Recently, Michael V, taped the pilot episode with first celebrity challenger Ogie Alcasid. Ogie’s challenge was to do the Sing Nginig Challenge where he was asked to serve breakfast to Michael V at the same time singing Pusong Bato. During the challenge, Ogie repeteatedly receiving several volts of electricity in his body.

Under the direction of Mike Tuviera, the local version is sure to create a new Filipino pastime: Singing the Killer Karaoke style. What challenges can Pinoy players take on? Which celebrities are adventurous enough to try the sing-and-play surprise?

Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman! airs Saturdays after Tropa Mo Ko Unli.
