Good music at Westgate Center

MANILA, Philippines - Saturdays are chill-out day at the Westgate Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa with Sessions@Westgate, a series of performances held every Saturday featuring some of the country’s hottest artists.

Frenchie Dy performs on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Frenchie rose to fame in 2004 as the Big Time Belter and eventual winner of the second season of the ABS-CBN reality singing competition Star in a Million. The University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music alumna is best known for her strong, powerful and soulful voice. She recently performed on the Kapamilya TV special Kanta Ko ‘To with The Voice of the Philippines’ Janice Javier. She is also a TV and theater actress playing such roles as Lilibeth in I Do BidooBidoo and Christmas Eve in the musical Avenue Q.

M.Y.M.P. takes the stage on Nov. 23 at 9 p.m. The band comprised of Jana Liwag (vocals), Chin Alcantara (guitars), Hannche Bobis (keyboards), Ibey Haber (bass), and Joel Tolentino (drums). M.Y.M.P. is known for its acoustic covers of popular songs such as Sting’s Every Little Thing and Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s Especially for You. The group’s Sessions@Westgate appearance will be one of the first professional performances for its new vocalist.

Barbie Almalbis goes onstage on Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m. The founder and former vocalist of Barbie’s Cradle has achieved tremendous success with her band, producing such hits as Tabing Ilog and All I Need. As a solo artist, she is the voice behind the hits Just A Smile and Summer Day.
