All-out fun & laughter on Kapamilya KTV

Bot Glorioso - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “Nangawit ang panga sa kakatawa.” That aptly describes how the comedy stars of ABS-CBN put their audience in stitches during the Kapamilya TV held last Sunday evening at the Quezon City Circle.

The more than two-hour show started at 6 p.m. with comedy bar regulars Iya, Neggy and Tiny opening the floor with humorous tales while poking fun at themselves. MOR DJs Onse and Chacha ascended the stage next and hit funny bones with their witty remarks prior to holding various games and giving away of prizes courtesy of event sponsors KFC, Creamsilk, Sunsilk, Surf and Knorr.

The crowd roared in delight when Lassie, John “Sweet” Lapus and MC performed in a “jungle-themed” production number. The crowd turned ecstatic when Lassie, John and MC took to the stage three couples who joined a contest showing their most giddy feeling toward each other.

K Brosas and Be Careful with My Heart stars Sabel and Doris, on the other hand, were dressed like fairy godmothers in bright orange gowns. They then selected two contestants — a boy and a girl — to test their singing talent in Karaoke contest.

Did I feel drizzle start falling on my head? K said it won’t hinder in making the night extra fun. And she’s right as the drizzle didn’t cause for the audience to vacate their seats. Instead, all eyes were glued to Banana Split cast members Jason Gainza, Manuel Chua, Boom Labrusca, Sunshine Garcia, Aiko Climaco and Saicy Aguila as they sang and grooved to a classic Hagibis song Legs. Five contestants were later picked out from the crowd for the Dance like Psy contest to the tune of, what else but, Gentleman.

And if you think the event will end without Pokwang, think again as she performed on stage with Chokoleit and Kitkat in “sexy” outfits. Pictures on this page will tell more about the fun and laughter in the Kapamilya KTV.

The Kapamilya KTV was part of ABS-CBN’s two-day, all-out treat to Kapamilya viewers in celebration of the network’s 60 years in Philippine television. The affair, which kicked off in the afternoon of Oct. 5 and culminated in the evening of the following day, was filled with various activities, games and prizes that brought cheers to everyone who trooped to the event.

A Kapamilya Village was also built where ABS-CBN programs and channels had set up booths that offered games and special shows. Of course, everybody got the chance to pose and click their cameras with some of the cast members of the Kapamilya programs. Workshops in acting, singing and dancing, on the other hand, were also conducted for those who were eager to hone their skills.

Public service was also part of the event through the medical mission organized by the network’s News and Public Affairs show Salamat Dok and the Kapamilya radio arm DZMM.

The ABS-CBN Regional Network Group also conducted medical, livelihood and government services to the public via Halad Kapamilya which was held simultaneously at SM City Bacolod, Cebu Technological University and Palma Gil Elementary School in Davao City.
