Star power in the 4th Star Magic Games

MANILA, Philippines - In cooperation with Star Studio and Jeepney Channel, the fourth Star Games was held at the Lourdes School in Mandaluyong City last Sept. 29. Away from their usual hectic schedules, the Star Magic stars were all excited to see and compete with their fellow Kapamilya.

The stars, all ready in their sports wear, were divided into four teams — Black, Blue, Green and Red. The games kicked off with the parade of colors headed by team captains Daniel Padilla, Sam Concepcion, Xian Lim and Gerald Anderson with their respective muses: Aaliyah Benisano and Alexandra Macanan for Red Team, Maja Salvador and Jane Oineza for Blue Team, Green were Ella Cruz and Erin Ocampo and Black Team’s  Liza Soberano and Julia Barretto.

After the Zumba warm-up by Gold’s Gym’s Pepper Lozada, everyone was charged up and raring to participate in the various sports categories of basketball, volleyball, badminton and fun games (dodgeball and tug of war plus patintero in the kids division). With hosts Robi Domingo, Matteo Guidicelli and Alex Gonzaga, they opened the program with KZ Tandingan who sang the National Anthem. John Lloyd Cruz gave this year’s opening remarks while Piolo Pascual facilitated the oath of sportsmanship. Jeepney Channel’s Cindy de Leon gave the welcome remarks. Team captains were asked to join Star Magic’s Johnny Manahan for the ceremonial toss.

Badminton champions were Neil Coleta and John “Sweet” Lapus in Men’s Doubles while Kristel Moreno and Erich Gonzales in Women’s Doubles. Angelica Panganiban and Dominique Roque won the Mix Doubles and Zaijian Jaranilla as the first placer in the Kids Fun Run. Kristel Moreno as the Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player, Miko Raval as the Most Improved Player, Rookie of the Year was Marco Gumabao and Daniel as the MVP for Junior Division. Mythical Six volleyball players were Jed Montero, Julia, Beauty Gonzales, Tracy Manlagit, Darriel dela Cruz and Aldwin Tan are Volleyball Mythical Six.

Hosted by Khalil Ramos, Jane and Julia, the day ends with the awarding ceremony and special awards were given to the following celebrities: Philip Nolasco and Liza as Early Bird awardees; Kim Chiu as the Most Played Games Athlete; Sam Concepcion as the Sportmanship awardee; Silka’s Poise and Beauty award goes to Wendy Tabusalla and Erich;  Roo’s Smart Kid awardee is Zaijian Jaranilla; Roos’ Spiker awardee is Julia; Daniel is Roos’ MVP awardee; Julia and Kathryn are Hayan’s Most Stunning Athlete and Most Radiant Athlete, respectively; and Roo’s Smasher awardee is Erich.

Black Team emerged as this year’s overall winner, followed by Blue Team, Red Team and Green Team in the statistics.
