Lauren Young on sister Megan: ‘Her success is also my success’

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - She may have the look, the height and the demeanor to become a beauty queen. But Lauren Young said she currently has no plans of following the footsteps of her sister, Ms. Word-Philippine 2013 Megan Young.

“It’s hard to follow the footsteps of Megan because the first time she joined, nanalo siya," Lauren told philstar.com in an interview recently.

“It’s really acting talaga. It’s acting or cooking,” she added. Besides being an actress, Lauren is a Culinary Arts student.

For the 19-year-old Kapuso star, in terms of becoming a beauty queen, being Megan’s sister is enough.

“I feel so proud as a sister because ilan lang naman kami na masasabi mo na yung kapatid mo, Miss World,” Lauren said.

She further shared, “It’s like her success is also my success. Because when she won, I was there and I was able to absorb it.”

Lauren entered show business in 2006, although she was given her breakthrough role — as the lead star of the remake of the ABS-CBN soap opera “Mula sa Puso” — in 2011. She moved to the Kapuso network late last year.

Megan, meanwhile, was a contestant in second season of GMA-7’s reality talent search “Starstruck” and starred in a number of ABS-CBN soap operas, including “Precious Hearts Romance Presents: Hiyas” and “Rubi.”

While she’s clearly the neophyte between the two of them, Lauren is the pressured over the fact that she started as out Megan’s little sister.

“It actually gives me perks because people will know me as Megan Young’s little sister. But it’s not hard because she’s very supportive and she teaches me what to do,” she said. “It’s anything but difficult to be her sister.”

Lauren currently stars in GMA-7’s suspense drama “Dormitoryo,” which also stars Enzo Pineda, Joyce Ching, and Ruru Madrid.

“As an artist, they will see me evolve on this show,” Lauren said. “This is a game-changer for me.”

“Dormitoryo” airs Sundays after “Sunday All Stars” on GMA-7.
