MBC stations bring home Golden Doves

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Radio stations of Manila Broadcasting Company on the AM and FM bands proudly brought home five trophies at the recently-concluded 21st Golden Dove Awards given by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).

MBC’s flagship station DZRH, the oldest surviving radio station in the country today, earned three awards, with Aksyon Radyo winning one and Radyo Natin likewise another trophy.

Art2Art, hosted by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, was once again awarded the Best Culture and Arts Program for its episode wherein Lea Salonga was the special guest.

Radio drama director Salvador Royales, in turn, accepted the Best Radio Drama award for May Pangako ang Bukas.

Radyo Balintataw, also aired over DZRH, took home the award for Best Radio Documentary for its treatise on the assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr.

DWOK Aksyon Radyo Iloilo was awarded Best Newscast (Provincial), while Radyo Natin earned the jurors’ nod as Best FM station (Provincial).

MBC stations pride themselves in upholding the highest standards of broadcast excellence as they provide the public with the latest news, information, public service and entertainment. DZRH, which to this day is known for its highly popular radio dramas, has had its pulse on Filipino culture since the day it first aired in 1939.  Aksyon Radyo, in turn, has allowed the efficiency of the news and public affairs team in Manila to translate into immediate action by its provincial counterparts. And Radyo Natin, run entirely by local residents who are familiar with the issues and needs of their respective communities, reaches the most far-flung areas of the country, with over 130 community stations strategically located throughout the archipelago. It was also the Philippines’ nominee for a UNESCO prize for developmental communication.
