TV5 fortifies news programming in Cebu

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - TV5 strengthens its news and public affairs programs in Cebu by introducing two of the region’s most respected lawyers — Frank Malilong Jr. and Georgia Herrera — as the new anchors of the Kapatid Network’s localized newscast Aksyon Bisaya. A press conference was held recently at Raphael’s Café in Cebu City to officially launch Aksyon Bisaya anchors and revitalized news format.

Malilong has become a household name in Cebu through his outstanding record in corporate law and long-running column in two of Cebu’s leading dailies. He also gained followers from his popular morning radio program Frankahay Ta!, which airs weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. on Radyo 5 101.9 News FM Cebu.

Herrera, on the other hand, lent her voice to Radyo 5 Cebu’s news segment in Frankahay Ta! along with co-anchors, lawyers Omar Redula and Briccio Boholst. A graduate of John Cabot University in Rome and the Arellano University School of Law, Herrera started her legal profession with The Firm, the Carpio, Villaraza, Angangco Law Offices and is now a Junior Partner of the Redula, Boholst, Sanchez Law Offices.

During the press conference, TV5 Cebu station manager Karla Kintanar-Fernandez revealed that Malilong and Herrera will also take part in Pagbabago 2013 — TV5’s most comprehensive coverage of the national elections to-date. The Kapatid Network also launched its advocacy campaign Anong Aksyon Mo? for Cebuanos as Unsay Aksyon Nimo?. Cebuanos can expect Malilong and Herrera to lead the change in Cebu as TV5 advocates fair and honest elections.

With local anchors in key areas such as Cebu and Davao delivering fresh news and information, the Kapatid Network assures Filipinos that it will bring all election-related events to the attention of all Filipino voters wherever they may be.
