Lita Rio in Lagrimas

Filipina beauty Lita Rio didn’t stay long in the movies, but in the ’50s she appeared in two memorable movies, Lagrimas and Rosario Cantada, both shown in 1951.

She played the title role in Lagrimas (Anak ng Luha), a tearjerker as the Spanish word suggests.

The other memorable film also had a Spanish title, Rosario Cantada, where Lita played a nun. She co-starred with Rosa del Rosario and Erlinda Cortez.

When she quit the movies, Lita put up a beauty salon along España (in front of UST), Coiffure de Paris, having trained in France. When last heard of, Lita was in Buffalo, New York, where she also ran a beauty parlor. —RKC
