It’s Good to be the President on GMA Oct. 28

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As the world turns its attention to the upcoming Obama versus Romney US presidential battle, GMA News TV presents the documentary It’s Good to be the President. First aired on the History Channel, the docu gives viewers a rare look into the lifestyle of the American presidents.

In America, citizens follow their presidents with the same passion and curiosity as if they were royalty. But in fact, these presidents are also citizens.

The docu special explores the enormous perks, immense pressure and ominous perils of being the US president — from the point of view of the presidents themselves.

By weaving together rare archival footage and photographs of past presidents, incisive interviews and highly-stylized original images, the film uncovers what the everyday life of an American president is really like. It’s Good to be the President takes viewers beyond the grandeur and the pageantry of the presidency, revealing instead the daily burdens, joys, surprises, and even the unexpected banalities associated with the highest office in America.

The docu reminds viewers that the man who would be president is, in many ways, an everyday person. It celebrates a core belief of America’s democracy: That anyone can grow up to become the President of the United States.

Covering many of the most famous — and infamous — American presidents, It’s Good to be the President airs on GMA News TV in two parts — part one tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 10 p.m. and part two, Nov. 4.
