OPM is alive and well in Jose Mari Chan

MANILA, Philippines - A new Christmas album packed with original songs is soon to be launched by Jose Mari Chan (photo).

In his 1990 Christmas In Our Hearts, there were only six originals in the whole album.

In the new one, titled Going Home to Christmas, there will be 19 original songs.

So who says that OPM is in danger of extinction?

Joe is now touring Australia with a series of concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. When he returns, he is set to launch his much-awaited Yuletide musical gift to his fans.

He was 45 when he recorded his now classic Christmas In Our Hearts and this is his 45th year as a recording artist. He was 22 when he came out with his first single Afterglow. This year is the 22nd anniversary of Christmas in Our Hearts and there are 22 songs in Going Home to Christmas in which he again sings a duet with daughter Liza Chan-Parpan and a quintet with Liza and her brothers Joe, Michael and Franco. Joe even gets to sing with his 10-year-old granddaughter Ramona Isabel Bunag Chan.
