Taylor Momsen: From Hollywood star to Bazooka rocker!

MANILA, Philippines - While the upcoming Bazooka Rocks festival features the most popular and most exciting rock and pop-punk bands that today’s kids can’t get enough of, there is no doubt that the biggest center of attention is The Pretty Reckless lead vocalist Taylor Momsen. From her very early start in acting via a commercial ad at the tender age of three, down to her iconic turn as Jenny “Lil J” Humphrey in the immensely popular TV show Gossip Girl, and being chosen as the face of Madonna’s Material Girl fashion line, she has been an actress and a model throughout her life. In true rock ’n roll fashion, she has put her rising status as an actress on hold to live her ultimate dream of becoming the modern rock rebel she is slowly turning out to be.

In an exclusive interview with PULP Live World’s Happee Sy-Go, Taylor said, “I currently quit acting at the moment, and I do not foresee myself acting anytime in the near future. I am very focused on music and writing and playing.”

In a 2012 interview with Digital Spy, she also explained that, “Acting is easy. I’ve been doing it for so long and I totally love it. But you’re playing a character instead of yourself. Music is more personal because you’re writing it and you’re involved in every step of it. Music is where I can be me.”

The Pretty Reckless is now one of the most sought-after rock bands in the world today and Momsen is the band’s rock ’n roll sex symbol. After two EPs and its 2012 first debut full-length album Light Me Up under global major record label Interscope, The Pretty Reckless has steadily built a huge fanbase around the world on the strength of its biggest hits Just Tonight, Miss Nothing and Make Me Wanna Die. The group has also been fortunate to tour with prominent rock bands such as Evanescence, Marilyn Manson and Guns N’ Roses while headlining its own tours (Light Me Up tour in 2012 and The Medicine tour in 2011).
