MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network was the big winner in the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) Awards held last Sept. 22 at the Camp Crame in Quezon City.
GMA 7 was named Outstanding TV Station, while GMA’s flagship AM station DZBB 594 khz was awarded Outstanding Radio Station.
Mike Enriquez bested other radio anchors for the Outstanding Radio Host award for his early morning radio program Saksi Sa Dobol B. DZBB’s Carlo Mateo, on the other hand, received the Outstanding Radio Reporter award.
On TV, GMA News TV’s noontime newscast Balitanghali was awarded as this year’s Outstanding Television News Program. Its anchors Raffy Tima and Pia Arcangel shared the Outstanding Television News Reporter award.
News producer Jiggy Manicad, in turn, scored another victory after winning the Outstanding News Reporter award. Manicad, who anchors 24 Oras Weekend on GMA 7 and News TV QRT on GMA News TV, recently made it to the hall of fame of the Comguild Awards after winning Best Male Field Reporter for three consecutive years.
News reporter Marisol Abdhuraman was also cited as a special awardee during the event.
Celebrating its 14th anniversary this year, the VACC is an organization committed to alleviating the plight of crime victims.
