Nature's Trail Run's second leg set Sept. 2

MANILA, Philippines - The second leg of Nature’s Trail Discovery Run will once gain rock and blaze the so-called the Trail Running Capital of the Philippines on Sept. 2 at one of the latest Mountain resorts in Tanay, Rizal. The Tanay Adventure Camp offers complete mountain resort facilities and amenities.

When it comes to mountain sports, Tanay, the nearest gateway to Sierra Madre mountains through the Marcos Highway that span from Marikina all the way to the upland barangays which are part of the Sierra Madre, is the favorite of running and biking enthusiasts. It offers best training ground with its mild elevation of 600 to 800 meters above sea level. It is the nearest place from Metro Manila to do long and short distance runs to keep fit and competitive. From Marikina, it takes only about 30 to 45 minutes to reach the highest point.

Thanks for the support of Tanay Mayor Lito Tanjuatco, the trail running community is growing. With races done in the mountain trails, there is a growing awareness of the importance of preserving, protecting and conserving the mountains. Runners, particularly in Metro Manila, don’t have to go and travel far to appreciate nature. They can enjoy the great outdoors in Tanay. All trail runners who participated in the first leg of the trilogy were at awe and could not contain their joy at what appeared to them while they stood at the summit of the race, the above-the-clouds experience overwhelmed runners who momentarily forgot about the race causing them to lose precious minutes to savor what nature’s beauty has shown them.

Surprise wonders of nature will be experienced and discovered by trail runners joining the second leg of the trilogy series presented by Pimco Sporting Events in partnership with the local government unit of Tanay and sponsors. Many road runners have crossed over to trail running and more teams are expected to join. The second leg is bigger in terms of participation and will be competitive as more trail runners are aiming to secure a place of honor in the Top Trail Runners of the Year Award to be given to runners by the Philippines Trail Runners Association after the conclusion of the trilogy series in December 2012. Registration is ongoing.
