MANILA, Philippines - DJ Ferry Corsten is the man who initiated a revolution in a dance music genre. On July 5, Corsten invades Manila’s music scene as he spins his classic tunes and new mixes at the Republiq Club, Newport.
With the release of his latest album WKND, the city’s partyphiles will get into a trance with Corsten’s latest beats that include 14 brand-new tracks.
Recently, he got together with some of the country’s young and stylish set with an exclusive dinner co-hosted by Raymond Gutierrez and Ginggay Joven-dela Merced at the Resorts World’s Opus Restaurant & Lounge. Among the guests were Liz and Laureen Uy, Robbie Becroft, Mike Concepcion, Carlos Concepcion, Isabelle Daza, Nicole Andersson, Fabio Ide, Ces Olondriz, Pam Quinones, Mark Nicdao, Vice Ganda, G Tongi, Andi Eigenmann, Lovi Poe and Carla Humphries.
Having designed the Dutch trance sound, Corsten propelled it into the clubbing consciousness and popular culture. From there, he innovated at every turn, working with vocalists as diverse as SimonLe Bon and Guru and has remixed music from most enduring artists like U2, The Killers, Faithless, Moby and William Orbit.
Regularly ranked as one of the Top 10 DJs in the world and backed by 20 years in the music industry, Corsten captures the hearts and minds of fans and scooped some of the world’s most prestigious music prizes along the way.
With a strong reception to his early tracks (Moonman’s Don’t Be Afraid and Discodroids’ Interspace), he launched Tsunami Records in 1997. Within six months, the Dutch Trance Sound had seized control of Europe’s dance floors and national charts. Corsten is one of the few electronic dance music DJs who have consistently hit the international music charts with his ground-breaking music productions. He fast established a reputation for impassioned floor-igniting sets, which engaged and delighted an ever-expanding group of fans. He entered DJ Magazine’s Top 100 poll in the first year of voting and, as of 2011, he has enjoyed an incredible unbroken 12-year run in the chart. He won Best Trance DJ in the 2005 and 2007 Ibiza Awards.
Midway through 2007, Corsten launched his radio show Corsten’s Countdown. Each week, listeners have ranked the 10 tracks he plays via the show’s website and his Facebook Fan Page. The radio show is now aired in over 55 countries.
Aside from his achievements in the world of dance music, Corsten is the ambassador for the Dutch World Wildlife Fund, where he has begun to leverage the exposure his events afford him to raise awareness for the fund’s activities.
With over two decades of working in the electronic dance music, Corsten continues to gain a multitude of following worldwide.
