Nature's Trail Discovery Run set in Tanay, Rizal
MANILA, Philippines - On May 27, runners from Metro Manila and from various parts of the Philippines will troop to the mountain barangay of San Andres, Tanay, Rizal for the first leg of Nature’s Trail Discovery Run trail-running trilogy series. It’s expected to be a high-level competition as the event attracts a mix of elite and regular runners, both local and foreign.
The racing event is the third running event organized and produced by Pimco Sporting Events of the Pimco Group. The group is behind the successful Love A Tree – Tanay Trail Half Marathon last Feb. 26, where runners were first introduced to the beautiful but challenging race routes at the Sierra Madre mountain ranges. Pimco Sporting Events got very positive reviews from the runners in social media networks and blogs.
Pimco commits to promote and develop the sports of trail running in the country and establish Tanay, Rizal as the “Trail Running Capital of the Philippines.”
Nature’s Trail Discovery Run will include indirect participants such as those who will accompany the runners on the days leading up to the race and on the race itself. The upland barangay of San Andres will expect about 2,500 visitors and guests. A place for a camping site has been designated and will be opened to campers/runners beginning May 25 for those who want to survey the race routes. There are two (10K and 21K) race categories. The race routes will take the runners to the Peak which is some 2-km. uphill climb in an elevation of 1,960 feet above sea level.
A total cash prize of P64,000 awaits the winners and more than P100,000 of raffle prizes and giveaways from sponsors will be given to all participants. Finisher shirts and medals will also be given. Participants will be ranked by the newly-organized group Philippines Trail Runners Association based on their time of finish. The ranking will be featured in Trail Runners to be released next month. The local government of Tanay, Rizal under Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco is the LGU Partner for the series. Barangay officials in four barangays — San Andres, Sto. Niño, Cayabu and Tinucan — will be lending their support as well.
