MANILA, Philippines - The Chinese National Acrobatic Troupe, which wowed the Philippine crowd during Christmastime two years ago, will return next month for a series of performances in a totally brand-new show dubbed as Legends of the Dragon. Show dates are May 9 to 13.
It comes as no wonder that the circus act is widely anticipated by both the old and young. When in comes to death-defying acts and unbelievable contortions of the body, no one does it like the Chinese National Acrobatic Troupe. The Chinese National Acrobatic Troupe regaled audiences in 2010 when it brought the Splendide! show. Thousands were amazed at the gravity-defying acts. The Chinese National Acrobatic Troupe comprises the world-acclaimed Grand National China Circus, the same performers who regaled the world during the Beijing Olympics. The Grand National Chinese Circus is the veritable training ground of the world famous Cirque de Soleil.
Legends of the Dragon features 16 brand-new acts that will thrill and push everyone to the edge of their seats. These include the Aerial Dance on Silk, which showcases the beauty of grace, strength, courage and flexibility of the performers as they romance with hanging silk curtains.
Another brand new-act shows the performers in a balancing act on high sticks that challenges physical strength and balancing skill. The show also presents new elements of fun, magic and the theater. Legends of the Dragon acts will fuse the discipline of the opera and comedy. Its version of Swan Lake features impressive hand-to-hand balancing with amusing antics.
There’s also a new act that employs a swaying soft steel wire just like cables on a ship braking through the wind and the waves. A young boy somersaults and does thrilling handstands on a unicycle demonstrating unbelievable balancing skills. The act won the Golden K award at the 20th International Youth Circus Festival of Monaco.
