Pinoy rock icons in one astig music event

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Rock icons recently joined forces during the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban Rock Challenge Grand Finals, making it the most astig and out-of-this-world rock event.

The amateur rock band competition made a perfect somersault with the best Pinoy rock bands from three generations of rock OPM performing on its grand arena. Pepe Smith and Ely Buendia together with Slapshock, Greyhoundz, Kjwan, Wilabaliw and Razorback fueled the excitement for the announcement of the new rock champion with their spectacular lakas sipa acts.

Hosts Julia Clarete and Francis Brew accompanied by Lovi Poe announced Davao-based metal core band David vs Goliath as the 2011 Red Horse Beer Muziklaban grand champion before over 16,000 attendees and more than 19,000 viewers via live streaming.

Successfully reliving three decades of Pinoy rock music was an awesome line-up of Pinoy rock legends representing the best of their generations. Pepe Smith, the Juan de la Cruz Band, Maria Cafra, Freddie Aguilar and The Dawn set the bar with their smashin’ ’70s and ’80s rock classics.

Ely, Greyhoundz, Slapshock and Razorback showed off the best of rock ‘n roll ’90s armed with their head-banging and heart-thumping rock stunts. Rounding up the new millennium Pinoy rock were Kjwan, Wilabaliw, Rocksteddy, Franco and Tanya Marcova who all performed astig and thunderous numbers.

The Red Horse Beer Muziklaban grand finals was a big rock affair that showcased and supported OPM and Pinoy musical talent.
