Baron draws strength from family
Baron Geisler is back in harness. He feels great to be working again. His last movie, Manila Kingpin: Asiong Salonga, reaped 11 awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). And Baron is happy to be in the acting circuit again.
He admits that his stay at the “rehab” helped him take control of himself. He intends to focus on his career and keep his bad habits in check. And keeping close to family has been his greatest strength in keeping himself on the right track.
He is also keeping himself fit and healthy and promises to quit smoking and alcohol. “I’m praying for that,” he said.
Vhong looking forward to a busy year
Vhong Navarro is looking forward to a busy year. The host and actor finished 2011 with flying colors with his hands full of work. One of the things that really excites him now is the new sitcom Toda Max where he is cast alongside Angel Locsin and Robin Padilla, whom he looks up to. “Isa yan sa pinakamagandang nangyari sa akin last year. ‘Yong pagbabalik sa sitcom,” he enthused.
Last Jan. 4, Vhong celebrated his 35th birthday. He had one wish: “Sana maganda ang pasok ng taong ito hindi lang para sa akin kundi pati na rin sa mga nasalanta ng Sendong.”
One of the most likeable personalities in showbiz, Vhong has come a long way from being a member of Street Boys, to becoming a major star in the fiercely competitive entertainment industry. Vhong also co-hosts ABS-CBN’s Showtime. What’s most refreshing about Vhong is that he is wonderful as a star and as a person.
KC will be hands on with new show
KC Concepcion is elated over her new show X Factor Philippines, a reality talent show. Early on in her career, KC hosted the season 4 of Star Circle Quest for the Next Kiddie Superstars. And hosting will always be her first love. “I cannot leave hosting. I am happy na may gagawin akong bagong singing competition. Marami akong makikita at makikilala na iba’t ibang tao na may talento, and I’m really happy.”
She said that X Factor Philippines is the first time for her to be hands on with a show. She will be visiting different provinces and will be “present” during auditions. “During the audition process, pupuntahan ko talaga lahat ng mga probinsyang yan. Hindi natin alam kung sinong mahahanap natin na secret treasure pala.”
This 2012, KC is also looking forward to her teleserye Alta, where she will be working with Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, Zanjoe Marudo, Luis Manzano and Diether Ocampo. She is also scheduled to do a movie and will be part of ASAP every Sunday.
Piolo on Angelica, then and now
Piolo Pascual has high admiration for Angelica Panganiban whom he is working with in a new movie. They were together in the teleserye Mangarap Ka way back in 2004.
And how’s the Angelica then and now? “When I see her pictures when she was 17, all I can say now is wow!” Angelica, Piolo said, is very professional as an actress and has matured a lot. “She has so much passion and she won’t compromise anything when it comes to work. Aside from that, she gives her all. And that gives us the challenge to give our all.”
Working with Angelica is always fun, said Piolo. There is no dull moment with her. Since they have known each other for a long time, Piolo and Angelica have already that chemistry needed for a romantic comedy. “Ako nga natatawa na sa ginagawa namin. We are comfortable with each other. We did Mangarap Ka for almost a year and we have Mae Cruz for a director and with whom I have worked for a number of years. Masaya ang pelikula namin. It’s a film that is worth watching.”
