Chinese Embassy screens 1911 Revolution at MOA

MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of 100 years of the Xinhua Revolution, the Chinese Embassy recently held a special screening of The 1911 Revolution at the Cinema 1 of the SM Mall of Asia.

The tribute film starring, co-directed and produced by Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, is about the revolt that ended the Qing Dynasty, deposed the last imperial rulers and formulated the first Republic of China. His son Jaycee Chan and Taiwanese actor Winston Chao also star in the film.

The 1911 Revolution was selected to open the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival and was released in China September of last year. Guests from the local Chinese community also enjoyed the photo exhibit showcasing the history of China’s journey from the Qing Dynasty to the present at the second floor of SM Mall of Asia’s IMAX Theater. Chinese Embassy officials led by Charge d’ Affaires Bai Tian welcomed them.

In his speech, Bai said that the Xinhua Revolution was an important part of their history because it paved the way for China to become a developed country. He added that it was “a great tool to remind people of the Chinese people’s bravery and unrelenting love of country.” Moreover, it was “an effective way of educating the younger generation of Chinese-Filipinos to appreciate their heritage even more.”

The film screening of The 1911 Revolution by the Chinese Embassy is one of the many exciting events at the SM Mall of Asia.
