Why Angel Locsin is on Cloud 9

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -

Angel Locsin is very happy these days and that makes us happy, too. Recently she received her own star in Eastwood City’s Walk of Fame. Sam Milby and Coney Reyes were also inducted to the Walk of Fame. A beaming Angel enthused, “I want to thank people who are behind this event specially Kuya Germs. At sa mga kapwa ko artista, congratulations po sa lahat sa inyo. Isang malaking karangalan po ito na makasama ko kayo lahat dito.”

Angel also paid respects to her former boyfriend Miko Sotto’s Walk of Fame Star. The actress felt emotional and said she felt Miko’s presence around. “Tinawagan ko si Tita Ali. ‘Uy nagparamdam si Mikoy. I’m happy because I know he is happy kasi yon naman ang gusto niya. Bittersweet ang nararamdaman kasi namimiss mo yong tao and at the same time happy ka kasi mayroon siyang naiwang marka rito.”

The occasion was extra special. She had her father as her “date.” Yes, she asked special friend Phil Younghusband to come with her but the latter had an earlier appointment. “I invited him, kaya lang si Daddy ang una kong niyaya. Sabi ko nga sa kanya uy may date ako. Sino, sabi niya. Daddy ko. May reklamo? Gusto niyang sumama pero may commitment siya,” said Angel.

Angel’s daddy is so proud of his girl. He also likes Phil for Angel. “Kung saan si Angel happy, doon ako.”

Angel and Phil who make a handsome pair are very supportive of each other. Angel was present at the friendly game between the LA Galaxy and the Azkals at the Rizal Memorial Stadium where Phil made the single score for the Philippine National team.

Bravo!

In The Heights returns in 2012

Atlantis Productions’ critically-acclaimed staging of the Tony Award winning musical In The Heights will return for a very limited repeat run in 2012 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

Experience, one more time, an exhilarating journey into one of Manhattan’s most vibrant communities, where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. In The Heights is a winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical. It also recently won the Aliw Award for Best Ensemble Cast.

Directed by Bobby Garcia, the repeat run of In The Heights features the original star-studded Manila cast including Nyoy Volante, Jackie Lou Blanco, Ima Castro, Calvin Millado, Tex Ordonez, K-La Rivera, Felix Rivera, Bibo Reyes, Jimmy Marquez and Jay Glorioso (who also won an Aliw Award for her performance as Abuela Claudia).

Nyoy received overwhelming critical praise and an Aliw Award nomination for his biggest role to date as Usnavi, the Washington Heights bodega owner who dreams of returning to the Dominican Republic and opening a bar, in the hit musical with a hip-hop, salsa, merengue and soul music infused score by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Star Power finalist and MYX VJ K-La was a revelation to many as 19-year-old Nina Rosario, the Stanford student who returns to her neighborhood with surprising news.  Her professional musical theater debut has been called the finest debut performance in many years. Her performance earned her an Aliw Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

Lin-Manuel, the show’s Tony Award Winning lyricist and composer, will be traveling to Manila to be present at the show’s opening in March. Bobby says, “We are thrilled to be able to bring back In The Heights for a limited repeat run with the original Manila cast. I can speak for everyone that this is one of the most fulfilling shows we have done and we have all become a family. I am also thrilled that Lin-Manuel Miranda will be coming to Manila for the opening of the repeat run. It will be an honor for all of us to have him watch the Manila production of In The Heights. Lin-Manuel Miranda is coming to Manila through a special partnership with Delta Airlines.”

A limited number of shows are also now available for show buying and fund-raising opportunities with excellent returns on investment. It is the perfect show to raise money for an organization, foundation or charity. As a special privilege to In The Heights showbuyers, you will also have first choice of showdates should you wish to buy upcoming Atlantis shows, Rock Of Ages starring Mig Ayesa and God Of Carnage starring Lea Salonga. A great opportunity to reserve those shows before they are opened to the public. Don’t miss out on this chance to be a part of one of the most exciting musicals of the decade.
