The single-disc compilation brings those hits together in one place to span every phase of the foursome’s highly-influential career. EMI Music initially released The Beatles 1 late in 2000, coinciding with the publication of the group’s official autobiography; the idea of the compilation is to have all of Beatles’ No. 1 singles, which were released in the UK and the US from 1962 to 1970. The album has gone on to sell over 31 million copies, reaching No. 1 in over 35 countries. It broke records as it became the highest-selling album of 2000 and of the entire decade.
