Train to perform live in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Train is set to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Dec. 7. It’s the American band behind hits Meet Virginia, Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me), Hey, Soul Sister, If It’s Love and Marry Me.
Train was formed in San Francisco, California in 1994 and the current members are Patrick Monahan (vocals); Jimmy Stafford (guitar); and Scott Underwood (drums). Touring with the band since 2009 are Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar); and Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals, percussion).
The band first shot to fame in 1998 with the release of its first album which had the hit single Meet Virginia. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Since then the band has had numerous hit singles on Billboard charts and the band’s other albums were also certified platinum. The Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) from the second album was on the Hot 100 chart for a year and won two Grammy awards in 2002 for Best Rock Song and Best Arrangement.
Train scored another Top 20 hit with Calling All Angels from the third album and it was even used in the hit TV series One Tree Hill. The band’s other songs were also used in movie trailers and even advertising campaigns. When I Look to the Sky was used in the trailer for the 2004 movie Jersey Girl; Ordinary was first featured in Spider-Man 2 then in the 2007 TV series Heroes.
Train has toured extensively since 2009. Early this year, it was invited to perform at the Dubai Jazz Festival, and the Pop Festival in Bogot. Just a month ago, the band concluded a co-headlining, full-scale summer tour with Maroon 5 which took them to over 40 venues across the USA.
The band is reportedly working on its sixth studio album, tentatively scheduled for release in early 2012.
Tickets to the show are available at all Ticketnet outlets and at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Box Office. Tickets are priced at P4,500 for Patron VIP; P4,000 (Patron); P3,000 (Lower Box); P2,300 (Upper Box A); P1,200 (Upper Box B); and P600 (General Admission).
