Wondergays a 'threat' to Vice Ganda?

MANILA, Philippines - Things have started to turn up roses for the newest singing sensation, the Wondergays. From an obscure, gay band, they are now being talked about in the entertainment industry. Imagine, their name is being alluded to be the nemesis of the most popular gay in town, Vice Ganda.

And their album, Blind Item which also carries the hit single Blind Item has slowly but surely turned gold garnering a brisk sales record in just a matter of time. The album has become a seller, not only for its good promo, but on its merit as a good album. With four novelty songs, all written by Blank Tape, a novelty singer himself under the wings of LDG and Entertainment Recording Co., the album carries four cuts which include Pare, Kiyeme Lang Yon, Hi, Hello, Oh Lala and its carrier single Blind Item.

Blue, Pink, White, Black, Gray and Green are not taking any chance and leave no stone unturned that’s why their album turned gold in so short a time. “Hopefully, it continuously sells and turns platinum, and so on and on,” says Wondergays’ manager Lito de Guzman.

Blind Item is popular among radio DJs and has been the theme songs of popular radio and TV talk shows like Juicy of TV5. Blind Item is also played regularly by Tita Swarding during his Sunday show at DZRH-666 Khz which also aired at RHTV. Because of its popularity, LDG is preparing the group’s first major concert in October at Zirkoh, Tomas Morato. Initially, the Wondergays wants Vice Ganda to guest on its concert because he is the idol of the group. But an ugly statement supposedly from Vice dismayed the members.

“Yes, hinahamon namin siya nang bonggang-bonggang showdown,” said White in a recent interview during the opening of Victory Park & Shop Multi-level Parking Complex, Antipolo City.

“Sinasabi niya na hindi daw niya kami ka-level, at ’di raw namin mararating ’yung narating niya. Ang masasabi ko lang naman dun e wag namang ganun kasi idol namin si Vice Ganda. Actually, pinagmamalaki namin talaga na idolo namin siya so sana ’wag ganun. Kasi sana suportahan nalang, magtulungan tayo kasi pare-pareho naman kaming mga beki,” said Blue.

In a recent development, the statement of Vice, disowning the ugly statement from a social networking site that says something like “sino sila, ka-level ko ba sila?”, countering Wondergays’ desire to have Vice in the concert, has added confidence in the group. The group openly said that Wondergays wants to have a showdown with Vice not to put her down, but to raise its level a little bit as each of them believes Vice is a dream concert partner of every new singer in town.

Furthermore, Vice said that her social networking account has been hacked and this must be the reason why such an inappropriate comment. “I am not that type of person, alam ko ang pinanggagalingan ko, I come from the lowest echelon of a beginner kaya nunca na mang-aapi ako. Sa akin, I welcome everybody, hangad ko ang tagumpay nila.”

So there.
