GMA 7's Julie Anne to open for David Archuleta
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino fans are in for a grand treat on July 18. It’s David Archuleta’s first solo concert in Manila. The local audience will experience the balladeer’s music, which has evolved since he first came into the public radar in 2008 for his stint on American Idol.
Julie Anne San Jose, one of GMA 7’s prized talents, has been chosen from a pool of young Pinoy talents, to open the show for David.
The 17-year-old singer was thrust into the limelight when she joined the GMA singing search Popstar Kids in 2005, wherein she landed in the top five. She then recorded albums with the show’s spinoff group, Sugarpop.
A number of hosting and acting stints later, Julie Anne has proven herself to be one of the most promising young stars in the country today. For one, her team-up with Elmo Magalona, which started on Party Pilipinas, can now be seen on the sitcom Andres de Saya starring Cesar Montano and Iza Calzado.
Julie Anne has also recorded a string of songs for the network, particularly the teleserye themes of Dyesebel, The Last Prince, Pilyang Kerubin, Sisid and Dwarfina.
Julie Anne said she couldn’t quite believe it when she was told that she was chosen to open for the international singer, adding that it’s a dream come true.
During concert night on Monday beginning 8 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum, you’ll not only get a chance to see David perform live, you’ll also witness Julie Anne prove that the Pinoy talent is truly world-class.
