One big, 'real hot' show

MANILA, Philippines - The Boardwalk show at the Araneta Coliseum held last Saturday, June 18, can be described, as its title heralded, “big” and “real hot.”

Titled One Big Show, it marked the trademark’s 20th anniversary, featuring awesome production numbers and, that’s it, “hot” endorsers in a fashion show of Boardwalk’s latest collection designed by Avel Bacudio.

Hosted by Borgy Manotoc, Kristine Caballero and Patrick Moore, One Big Show was opened by Kris Aquino who renewed her contract as Boardwalk Business Ambassador. Guests were led by Bernardo Madera, Boardwalk president.

The Boardwalk 100 Models Search winners were featured together with Kapuso and Kapamilya stars as well as beauty-title holders.

The stars included Coco Martin, Jean Garcia, Maggie Wilson, Rich Asuncion, Ryan Agoncillo, Cherry Pie Picache, Guji Lorenzana, Bangs Garcia, David Chua, Victor Aliwalas, Jake Cuenca, Julia Montes, Justine Gabionza, Rich Herrera, Rich Hardin, Assunta de Rossi and Matteo Guidicelli.

Billy Crawford, Rachelle Ann Go and Nikki Gil treated the audience to song and dance numbers.

The beauty queens/actresses included Azenith Briones (Mutya ng Pilipinas Miss Photogenic 1975), Deborah Sun (star of the original Temptation Island), Lyka Ugarte (Mutya ng Pilipinas 1983 first runner-up), Desiree Verdadero (Miss Universe 1984 third runner-up), Alma Concepcion (Bb. Pilipinas International 1994), Joyce Ann Burton (Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1985), Gem Padilla (Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1990), Patty Betita (Bb. Pilipinas International 1991) and Lou Bunyi (Elite Look of the Year winner in 1989), plus veteran models Ping Federis and Isabel Roces.

One of the highlights was the underwear fashion show that had hunky endorser Derek Ramsay as the finale attraction. Using a harness, Derek who was only in jeans descended onto the center of the stage as a “dark-winged angel.”

One Big Show will be aired on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best on July 24.
