Pinay actress in Broadway's Spider-Man hurt in mishap

-

MANILA, Philippines - BREAKING NEWS: According to a flash report from Funfare’s Big Apple correspondent Edmund Silvestre, the Broadway staging of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark seems to be hounded by bad luck.

Quoting reports, Edmund said that T.V. Carpio (photo) was injured during a battle scene onstage. T.V. replaced fellow Pinay actress Natalie Mendoza who quit as evil spider woman Arachne after she, too, was injured in an accident during rehearsals for the $65-M production.

Edmund said that the producers announced that T.V. would be out for the next two weeks to rest and recuperate.

“T.V. Carpio sustained an injury on March 6 during an onstage battle scene with a fellow actor,” Edmund quoted Rick Miramontez, a spokesman of the musical, as saying. “On doctor’s orders, she will be out of the show for the next two weeks. America Olivo, an understudy who is of Italian-descent, will be performing the role of Arachne during this time.”

After Natalie sustained a concussion during a mishap in December last year, the show has been dogged by injuries, noted Edmund. “As a result, the show’s opening has been delayed several times. As previously announced, the show will now open on June 14 and all performances between April 18 and May 11 have been cancelled.”
