MANILA, Philippines - Latin sensation Trini Lopez promises to paint the town red this Valentine’s season as he goes onstage at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu on Feb. 9 and at Araneta Coliseum on Feb. 10, featuring Pilita Corrales with special guest Ramon “RJ” Jacinto.

The Latin superstar is known for his hits If I Had A Hammer, America, Quizas Quizas Quizas, La Bamba, Lemon Tree, Besame Mucho, Cielito Lindo, Cuando Calienta El Sol, Guantenamera, Sugar, Sugar  (en Espanol),    and his own version of all-time favorite Spanish and English tunes.

But like any passionate performer, the singer attributes his success to hard work and dedication. His dramatic “from barrio to Beverly Hills” continues to be an inspiration to fans all over the world.

Trini’s father gave him his first guitar when he was 11. Times were hard and the young Trini played for money on the street corners of Dallas, where he was born. He eventually went on to form his own group.

His first songs were Mexican sing-alongs with his mother, father, brother and sisters. He dropped out of high school to help his father support the family by singing around Texas “Southland.” He realized music would make him something special. Indeed it did, enabling him to get himself, and his family, out of the barrio.

When Trini was 18, King Records in Cincinnati offered him a recording contract. He recorded Since I Don’t Have You. It hit the Top 10 nationwide. This was followed by Don’t Let Your Sweet Love Die, which became a No. 1 hit in his hometown of Dallas

Trini moved to Hollywood and worked at Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills and the popular night spot called P. J.’s. Here, he was spotted by world-famous record producer, the late Don Costa, who brought him to his longtime idol, Frank Sinatra. The great singer immediately gave Trini to an exclusive eight-year contract with his own label — Reprise Records.

Reprise released his first album, Trini Lopez at P. J.’s, which became a No. 1 hit album. Out of that album a single, If I Had a Hammer became a No. 1 hit in 38 countries.

If I Had a Hammer  hammered Trini’s name in gold with many hit albums and many hit singles… and in the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world. Following Hammer  were many hits which he wrote, and songs like I’m Coming Home Cindy, Michael, Lemon Tree, Kansas City, America, and, of course, La Bamba. The list goes on.

Trini was honored in Congress in Washington D.C. by Congressman Thomas Rees of California “in recognition of his work on behalf of International relations,” and shares prestigious company with Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra in being named Goodwill Ambassador for the United States. He was cited by the LULAC Council #12 of Laredo, Texas, as “Mr. International.”

Trini believes in the saying “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” He supports many worthy causes such as The March of Dimes, Cancer Research Foundation, Diabetes Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Variety Clubs International, and many more.

 Trini is also an equally talented actor. He was in Jack Webb’s Adam 12  TV shows for Universal, in the Frank Sinatra-Dean Martin movie Marriage on the Rocks, A Poppy is Also a Flower,  starring Sean Connery, the classic The Dirty Dozen starring Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson His first starring role was in Antonio with his co-star, the infamous “J.R.,” Larry Hagman, and in the TV movie The Reluctant Hero.
