Fo Guang Shan greets Year of the Rabbit

MANILA, Philippines -  Monastics, practitioners and lay volunteers celebrate the Year of the Rabbit at the Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple.

The celebration started last night with the Chinese New Year’s Eve Dharma Service at 10 p.m., followed by a dinner of vegetarian food and goodies.

For the next three days, the Thousand Buddhas Dharma Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. every day. Other activities are Lantern and Flower Festival, Incense and Light Offerings, a forum on making New Year’s Resolution and Praying Ceremonies. The Temple Gallery will also be opened to feature Buddhist Statues and a Book Fair which will be held at the newly-opened bookshop at the Temple ground floor.

Regular Temple activities continue. The English language classes are held Tuesday nights at 7:30, while Children’s Mandarin Classes are on Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Every third Tuesday of the month is Vegetarian Cooking Class at 2 p.m. Tai Chi class is on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Rondalla Class at 2 p.m. on Sundays. English Dharma Talks are held at 10 a.m. and the Chanting Service is every Saturday night at 7:30.
