Mayor Strike Revilla leads LMP

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The 2010 holidays may have not sounded off wedding bells for Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla but he is definitely ringing in New Year 2011 with a bang, with the able help of his rumored fiancée Chaye Cabal, a finance executive in Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) company.

Seen together during the recent general assembly event of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the Sofitel Garden Tent, the lovebirds looked very complimenting of one another — the politician supported by his intelligent and brainy lady.

The new set of National Executive Committee of the LMP, for the term 2010-2013, which Mayor Strike leads now, was welcomed on Dec. 1 during the 2010 LMP General Assembly held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza.

For the league of 1,512 member-municipalities, Revilla’s foremost priority is the solidarity of the many political views and factions existing in LMP. He urges all the mayors to harmonize the members’ conflicting views and work together to move forward. “I take on the challenge that you conferred me. With LMP, with our alliance, we can draw strength, potency that can better guide us to achieve what we are aspiring for our communities.”

With our united effort we will be able to conceive a different kind of synergy that capacitates each of us in harnessing our resources,” Revilla said during his acceptance speech as new national president, which was streamed live on PLDT MyWatchpad.

Cabal, who was with Revilla at the event, seconded her beau’s declaration about utilizing resources, especially as far as her company’s part is concerned. “We’re fibre-ing up the whole country. Yung ibang lugar din — madami na — may mga wireless networks na,” said she.

Cabal refers to the completion of the P2.8B upgrade of the PLDT Domestic Fiber Optic Network, the country’s most extensive and resilient fiber optic network with a total of 10,050 kilometers connecting 68 nodes. With this system in place, all the high bandwidth requirements of all PLDT innovations are supported, which redound to better technology for the municipalities it serves. “This is the reason why our partnership with PLDT and our other subsidiaries is valued highly. We need the technology to better provide the basic services at para mas mabilis ang mga transaksyon. Not to mention that through the Internet, we can entice even international entities to invest in our country,” he said.

The press inevitably asked the two about that much-awaited and much-anticipated altar date. Both, however, private persons that they are, refused to reveal anything.

Revilla and Cabal just smiled.
