Star Cinema gears up for 3 entries in MMFF

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - It was a very fruitful year for Star Cinema this 2010.

Managing director Malou Santos is very happy for the whole year for the company as the year ends.

“Before the Metro Manila Film Festival, we had My Amnesia Girl which did very well at the box-office. In fact it is still showing until now, and still in over 100 theaters, a remarkable feat considering that it is on its 4th week already.”

We are very very happy and surprised with Toni Gonzaga, because what she showed with the project is another facet that showcased her wide range of acting prowess from comedy and drama.”

“John Lloyd gave another astounding performance. We are very happy that John Lloyd has been honed by Star Cinema through the years. It was teamwork at its finest.”

With My Amnesia Girl grossing at the box-office and receiving excellent reviews, Santos is gearing up for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival because three different movies were fielded by Star Cinema that caters to widest, most discerning taste of the Filipino audience.

Ang Tanging Ina Mo, was first produced seven years ago, and it made box-office success and earned Ai-Ai delas Alas the title of being the county’s undisputed Comedy Box Office Queen. Now, as we bring the final installment to the Ina series, we promise to give only the best conclusion to the story that our Kapamilyas embraced through the years.”

“Kris Aquino meanwhile, is our undisputed horror box-office star, and Feng Shui and Sukob made box-office history in the horror genre. After four years she goes back to Star Cinema not just as an actor but as co-producer through Dalaw and her professionalism is unparalleled in production and promotions. Wala ka nang mahihiling pa sa kanya bilang artista.

Last, but not the least, RPG: Metanoia. “After five years, the movie will be finally shown,” Santos shares. “This is the baby of Ambient Media and Star Cinema and will feature the voices of the country’s biggest superstars, Aga Muhlach, Vhong Navarro, Eugene Domingo and Zaijian Jaranilla. We are very proud of the project because it strands on the door of history as we usher in a new phase in Philippine filmmaking as we come up with the first 3D animation that is proudly Filipino-made.”
