MANILA, Philippines - With the ravages brought about by Typhoon Ondoy last year, more Filipinos have developed a concern for the environment. The call towards sustainable development is not left in the hands of environmental groups alone. In the past few years, private individuals, businesses and other stakeholders have supported, if not, spearheaded the calls for a more sustainable environment.
Thus, Ayala Land’s Nuvali, the 1,840 hectare self-sustaining eco-community recently partnered with Philippine Realty TV, the country’s first real estate TV show, for Project: Green Home. The milestone project will show viewers how to build an eco-friendly home, from the ground up.
With the help of other industry experts in the fields of construction, architecture, interior design and care for the environment, viewers will learn all about the best practices, methods and materials for green architecture, sustainable construction and even edible and self-sustaining landscaping.
“We launched our first green home inside Avida Settings in Nuvali. This time, we hope to build a better, bigger and modern green home that we want as a model not only to the residents of Nuvali but also to other developers as well,” says Jun Bisnar, Nuvali SVP and GM.
Soon to rise on a 250-meter square lot in Treveia, one of the residential communities in Nuvali developed by Alveo Land, the green home will be an environmentally sustainable house that will utilize passive green elements such as the utilization of sunlight or natural light, passive cooling, rain water harvesting and active green elements such as green walls, solar panels, solar-assisted air conditioners, and water heaters, LED light technology, and other practical eco-friendly solutions.
John Aguilar, executive producer and director of Philippine Realty TV, says, “For us behind the show, Project: Green Home is more than just a marketing endeavor. For Nuvali, it is not just about selling more houses. Going green is not that easy. We have a lot of challenges ahead of us. These really are the whole-hearted efforts we’ve been giving towards more sustainable practices.”
Bisnar adds, “Nuvali is working very hard to deliver a sustainable community that could be a good example not only here in the country but also for the rest of the world to see. Like we always say, the benefit of protecting the environment always exceeds the cost of protecting it. Project: Green Home attests to Nuvali’s long-term commitment towards a sustainable future.”
Nestled in Laguna in the cities of Sta. Rosa and Calamba and the municipality of Cabuyao, Nuvali is a sprawling commercial, retail and residential development that offers a haven for work, leisure, and home. An essential part of Nuvali’s sustainability efforts is to educate its locators and their employees, merchants, residents and visitors about the benefits of going green and encouraging them to do their share for Mother Earth.
Nuvali’s commitment is to ensure the welfare of the environment through preservation and enhancement of the existing ecosystems while at the same time meeting the highest international standards in the development. Nuvali, where people and nature thrive.
