Rookie Blue on DIVA Universal
MANILA, Philippines - Debuting on DIVA Universal (formerly Hallmark Channel) is Rookie Blue, a brand new and exciting workplace drama about five rookie cops plunged into the high stakes world of big city policing. Unlike many cop shows on the scene, Rookie Blue takes on the point of view of newbie first-responders — the hardest type of policing there is and is considered the “emergency room” of policing. So while we all have had first days on a job, where we “fake it to make it,” these rookie cops are diving into a job where even the smallest mistake can have life or death consequences.
Follow five young and ambitious cops fresh out of the police academy that have vowed to serve, protect and… not screw up. The soul of the group is Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym, Reaper). She’s growing up fast, carrying a gun, and feeling like a fraud half the time. She comes from a family of cops and being a cop is all she has ever wanted to be.
Her best friend is the tough as nails Traci (Enuka Okuma). From a tough neighborhood, Traci is a single mother of a three-year old boy, a fact she is hiding from her colleagues.
Then there is Chris (Travis Milne), the poster boy for the police force, a handsome, clean cut and athletic rookie who believes in following orders while his rookie colleague Dov (Gregory Smith) is the archetypal thrill-seeker who is trying to make up for years of being overprotected.
The sharp and attractive Gail (Charlotte Sullivan) is the cop royalty among the lot. With her mother being a superintendent that is next in line to be Chief of Police, Gail has a lot of living up to do and is not afraid to step on anyone’s toes along the way.
These rookies trained at the Police Academy. Now, they are on the job together, learning first-hand the toughest kind of policing.
They are the first responders — first on the scene and first to jump in the face of danger. They drive squad cars, never knowing if today is the day that will bring them a dead body, a violent home invasion, a john sweep or a drug raid.
Described as Grey’s Anatomy meets NYPD Blue, Rookie Blue took the slot of Grey’s Anatomy when it launched in the US this year and quickly became the highest rated scripted summer series with over 7.3 million viewers tuning in weekly.
Rookie Blue airs on DIVA Universal every Thursday at 9 p.m.
