Renowned Pinoy pianist performs in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Cebu-born, Juilliard-educated, Singapore-based pianist Albert Tiu teams up with Chinese cellist Li-Wei Qin to perform in Manila tomorrow, Oct. 9, 4 p.m. at The Podium, Atrium for a meet and greet plus showcase and on Oct. 10, 7:30 p.m. at Philam Life Theater, United Ave., Manila.
Tiu was trained as a scholar by American classical pianist Jerome Lowenthal. After winning honors, including the 1998 Juilliard William Petschek Award that led to a critically-acclaimed solo recital at the Lincoln Center’s Tully Hall, doors around the world have been opening wide for the prodigious pianist.
Tiu has performed as soloist, given master classes, and worked with the best classical musicians in Singapore, China, Russia, Spain, France, Belgium, Zimbabwe, Costa Rica, South Africa, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada, the United Kingdom and the US.
Tiu’s album Beethoven: The Sonatas For Piano And Cello saw him teaming up with famed Australia-based Chinese cellist Li-Wei Qin. Beethoven: The Sonatas for Piano And Cello, a two-CD treat, is available in record shops from MCA Music.
