More Dirty Jobs on Discovery

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - There’s no denying it — Mike Rowe is a dirty, dirty boy! Knee-deep in sewage and up to his elbows in muck, he doesn’t back down. At least not until fatigue or nausea takes over. On Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs, Mike has found a hands-on way to pay tribute to a nation of unsung heroes, serving as an apprentice to everyday men and women who perform the jobs no one else wants. This month, Mike returns with more dirty jobs on a brand new season, offering an illuminating look at what lies beyond your typical desk-bound job — with more than a few laughs along the way. Episodes premiere Monday nights at 8 starting Oct. 11.

Since the series first debuted in 2005, Dirty Jobs has provided an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at more than 200 dirty jobs (and counting!) — in industries ranging from construction to sanitation to manufacturing. Join him as he travels across the US and meets hardworking men and women with extraordinary attitudes and optimism, who overcome fear, danger — and sometimes stench — to accomplish their daily tasks.

Animal renderer, diaper cleaner, sheep castrator, maggot farmer are just some of the apprenticeships that Mike could list on his dirty job resume. Here’s what he takes on this season:

Mike heads to southern California to work as an animal control specialist by removing stinky skunks and other wildlife that live underneath and around peoples’ homes.

He travels to Augusta, Georgia to spend a day working on a cricket farm to help breed, capture and package the critters. Then he offers never-before-seen footage of his visit to the Oasis Camel Dairy and his job as a camel rancher.

Mike spends the day working with the chicken busters to chase feral chickens and chicks to get them off the streets of Miami. Then he answers a fan letter which asks him about the familial bond often rooted within the various jobs that he works on.

He heads to Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, to work with the Soo Locks maintenance crew.

Mike travels to Moss Landing, California, to get messy by making decorative concrete countertops and a fire pit. Then he recounts the scariest job he has ever done in his Dirty Jobs career.
